I. PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Sports Reporter/ Producer is responsible for 3 Original sports packages per week at a minimum and for helping produce the entire sports daily segment with main Sports Anchor, taking all of the disparate elements of a sports telecast and coordinating them into a coherent whole, all while making sure the broadcast meets the high technological standards of modern broadcasting and entertains the broadest possible audience
II. DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES: (Essential Functions: Duties and responsibilities noted with bullets are considered to be the essential functions of the job)
A. Suggests, conducts and writes/edits 3 original sports packages per week
B. Supervise and coordinate preproduction, and editing for his packages and any production elements needed for Live Show
C. Substitutes as Sports Anchor when the main is on sick or annual leave
D. Supervise production
E. As Producer, Does forward planning for Dubai…always knowing who and what is happening in the GCC as a whole…informing weekly the global sports team.
F. Assist directors as necessary
G. Ensure that all production details are completed, including, without limitation, graphics and chyrons
H. Provide control room with critical information regarding the timing, content and execution of live shots while program is on-air
I. Maintain composure in the control room
J. Remain creative and cool under pressure
K. Oversee post-production and approve final edited versions of stories, as necessary
L. Evaluate program to ensure that objectives are met
III. OTHER DUTIES:
A. The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties and take on other responsibilities as dictated by events and circumstances
IV. QUALIFICATION/EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
A. Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting, Journalism or Communication or equivalent training and/or experience
B. Minimum 5-7 years of experience producing and anchoring
C. Demonstrate strong news judgment and organizational skills
D. Ability to prioritize and make quick decisions
E. Ability to write clear and concise sports news stories
F. Ability to communicate and translate from English to classic Arabic
G. Must be able to demonstrate discretion, maturity and composure especially under pressure
H. Superior story writing and storytelling ability
I. Good creative and editorial judgment
J. Mastery of journalistic ethics and libel laws
K. Proficient with internet, database and computer assisted reporting techniques
L. Inquisitive and self directed with a strong attention to detail
M. Able to work effectively with all levels of management and staff in a professional manner
N. Exercise self-discipline and time-management skills
O. Accommodate flexible hours including nights, weekends, holidays and irregular hours at a moment’s notice
