The Services shall be performed at the MBN office in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and at such other and different locations as MBN may, from time-to-time, require.
I.PRIMARY FUNCTION: Incumbent will suggest, find and book guests for our News program working with the Assignment Desk Editor. He/she will be a key component in the newsroom operation as guests are vital on a rolling new channel. He/she must have thorough knowledge of international news and MBN’s aims.
II.DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES: (Essential Functions: Duties and responsibilities noted with bullets are considered to be the essential functions of the job).
A. Maintain steady contact with assignment desk to anticipate and determine appropriate guests for interviews
B. Maintain a current network of contacts for a variety topics and points-of views to be contacted for support of live or taped programming
C. Activate contact network to ensure balanced guest representation for every guest segment
D. Quickly find contacts for phone interviews in response to breaking news
E. Monitor show rundowns to stay apprised and ensure guest is in position and ready at the right time.
F. Coordinate transportation and other arrangements for guests to ensure they are in place and ready for air.
G. Extend a formal thank you letter/note on behalf of the network to each guest within one week of their appearance.
H. Complete guest honorarium at the end of each month; submit to business manager for prompt payment to guest.
III. OTHER DUTIES:
A.The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties and take on other responsibilities as dictated by events and circumstances.
IV. QUALIFICATION/EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
A. College degree in Journalism or a related field preferred.
B. 3-4 years previous experience as producer preferred.
C. Willing to learn to operate Cinegy
D. Demonstrate strong news judgment and organizational skills.
E. Ability to prioritize and make quick decisions.
F. Ability to write clear and concise stories.
G. Ability to communicate and translate from English to classic Arabic.
H. Must be able to demonstrate discretion, maturity and composure especially under pressure.
I. Superior story writing and storytelling ability.
J. Good creative and editorial judgment. Mastery of journalistic ethics and libel laws.
K. Proficient with internet, database and computer assisted reporting techniques.
L. Inquisitive and self directed with a strong attention to detail.
M. Able to work effectively with all levels of management and staff in a professional manner.
N. Exercise self-discipline and time-management skills.
O. Accommodate flexible hours including nights, weekends, holidays and irregular hours at a moments notice.
