PRIMARY FUNCTION: The incumbent will deliver the Al Youm show in a distinctive style that will attract and retain viewers with a voice quality that is authoritative yet conversational using Modern Standard Arabic. The incumbent will presents in a fair, balanced and concise manner; dress in professional business attire while on the air and must demonstrate strong news judgment and establish good working relationship with Executive Producer, Senior Producers and Producers.

DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES: (Essential Functions: Duties and responsibilities noted with bullets are considered to be the essential functions of the job).

• Take direction from Senior Producer.
• Deliver in a distinctive style that will attract and retain viewers with a voice quality that is authoritative yet conversational using Modern Standard Arabic.
• Introduce stories and report information to the audience.
• Assist Senior Producer in reviewing all scripts for the show.
• Determine show topics and content in coordination with the Senior Producer.
• Book guests for the show in coordination with the Senior Producer.
• Conduct interviews, taped or live.
• Rehearse shows in consultation with the production team. 
• Maintain composure while on air
• Perform under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Maintain knowledge of international and U.S. news events.
• Adhere to appropriate journalistic standards of fairness, accuracy, and relevancy
• Adhere at all times to MBN’s Code of Journalistic Ethics (Exhibit B).

QUALIFICATION/EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelors Degree in journalism or broadcast journalism is preferred.
• 3-5 years news anchoring experience.
• Excellent Arabic writing skills.
• Solid news judgment.
• Must exercise self-discipline and time-management skills.
• Must be skilled reader, adept to ad-libbing during breaking news and ability to handle on-air problems.
• A working knowledge of the big stories of the day.
• Must be able to work well with others in a professional environment under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Clear pronunciation in Modern Standard Arabic, strong understanding of English desired.
• Must be skilled and experienced in interviewing newsmakers.
• Strong on-camera presence and personality required to present news material.
• Knowledge of journalistic ethics and libel laws.
• Must be able to accommodate flexible work schedule to support 24/7 news environment.  This may require overnight coverage.
